Kidloops.com Philosophy

Everyone can make music. Especially kids.
Every parent knows that kids have unique world views. And that they love to sing and talk about them. No matter who is listening. They are not embarrassed. They just tell it like it is. But kids grow up fast and disappear into the world of adults. Never to be seen again. And with this is lost all the nonconformity, insight and wisdom that only kids have.
We can all learn a lot from kids. The team at Kidloops.com is dedicated to capturing this wisdom, no matter how small-fry it seems, and expressing it in music.

What We Do

You provide us with samples (recordings) of your kid or baby making sounds, singing or talking and we (the Team KidLoopers), cut them up, loop them up, tweak them and mix them down with music and turn them into a finished, hi-quality song for you to keep.

We take your kid's wisdom
put it to a beat,
record it to CD
for you to keep

How does it work?

Digital audio recording and editing software on home computers has revolutionised music making. The WWW makes it possible to send digital sound files (eg .WAV or MP3) over the internet easily and quickly. Digital sound files form the basis for the music made by Kidloops.com.
Sound files you provide are used as vocal samples which can be looped for repetition and sequenced with other musical samples. The combination of samples and sequences are mixed together to form a song.

The Kidloops.com Story

When Marlow, at age 3, noticed and picked up the microphone connected to the computer, the natural thing to do was to hit record. Playing the sounds of Marlow’s voice back to him with some echo and delay was fun for all in the room, but putting some drum beats to that seemed so obviously the thing to do. He loved it and so did we.

Cutting and looping up the gems of wisdom left by Marlow that afternoon and turning them along with a bass line into the first Kidloop™ was instinctive. When his sister insisted she have a turn the next day, there was no turning back. Kidloops.com was born on the north coast of New South Wales, Australia.

The joy for kids and parents and friends of hearing Kidloops™ is enormous. So many people began to say you should do this as a business. And here we are! While it is a business adventure for us, it is also about bringing more happiness into the world through the children that shall inherit it.

The Kidloopers...

KID A (for Adrian - apologies to Radiohead)
I discovered Kidlooping by instinct and by accident. I was led there when my little buddy Marlow told me all about his adventures in the National Park where he was camping with his ma and pa and sister.

I was recording his story onto my PC for the sake of documenting it, but then began to chop up his words, mix them down with a retro drum beat and my first Kidloop™ seemed to be forming by itself. It just sounded so good and fun and right. There was magic that afternoon as a bass line and other musical quirks were added.

I had to record and loop a few more kids I knew and the reactions continued to be worth the effort. Capturing the spontaneous and unique insights of kids in this way and giving it back to them musically and their parents (who are of my generation), is gratifying. And it began to feel like a small but worthwhile contribution in a scary, off-the-shelf world.

It has been good fun teaming up with some old musical buddies to put together Kidloops.com. Please enjoy.

Wazzakid
(for Waz Porter) Back when I was a kid I made a cassette recording of my younger (by 3 years) brother. He could burp whole sentences and even songs. I recorded him and we played that tape so often with hilarious results every time. I guess that was my first Kidloopú. Today I work as a musician and a sound engineer. Kidloops.com allows me to bring these skills together for the sake of children's entertainment. The idea of putting a smile on the face of children is irresistible. I love the raw and, could I say, un-adulterated freedom in children's expression. This is perfect material for creating timeless music. Making Kidloopsú is a very fun. The idea is so simple yet the result is hugely rewarding. The musical experience for me is a giving one and somehow free from the egotistical trappings of adult music.
