PANDANUS BEACH COTTAGE in its original state was a fishermans cottage used by a headmaster and his family for holidays. It changed hands a couple of times before I bought it. Rather than knock it down I decided to renovate it gradually, modernizing the kitchen and both bathrooms.
The kitchen has a large Baumatic stove with gas cook top and electric oven. There's also a gas connection for the occasional cold night in Winter.
The lounge room/kitchen is open plan with bifold windows and doors opening onto the back deck. This is enclosed by louvres so can be thrown open to the breezes or closed in cooler weather. One end can be closed off with sliding screens to make a second bedroom.
The house provides a romantic hideaway for a couple – the master bedroom has an enormous ensuite bathroom with access to a private garden courtyard – or can be opened out to become a generous entertainer for family and friends.
